Welcome to Blume Haven, I'm happy you're here!

I approach therapy with empathy and believe in your potential for growth and positive change. I recognize that you have a unique journey shaped by your background and challenges, and I value your insights as we work towards your goals. Sometimes we just need the right support to help us on our way.

My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while also integrating elements of mindfulness, self-compassion, and values-based techniques. I prioritize fostering a safe space where you can comfortably explore and process emotions, thoughts, and past experiences, promoting holistic healing and growth.

In our sessions, you can expect me to be fully present, compassionate, and non-judgmental as we collaboratively explore your challenges and find a path forward that feels authentic and meaningful to you.

Special Notes:  I hold a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Toronto and have completed Level I and II training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Wilfried Laurier University. I have also completed training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD by a CTSA approved institute.

Why Virtual Therapy?

Virtual therapy provides a convenient and accessible option for individuals seeking mental health care.

As a virtual therapy service, I offer support exclusively through online video or phone sessions, allowing you to receive therapy from the comfort of your own home.

Virtual therapy can also offer greater flexibility in scheduling appointments, making it easier to fit therapy into your busy life.

I believe that every individual's journey to mental wellness is unique, and my goal is to provide personalized and empathetic care that meets your individual needs.

Types of Therapy you can Expect at Blume Haven

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps individuals identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours. It is a goal-oriented approach that focuses on the present moment and provides practical skills to manage current challenges. CBT has been found to be effective for a wide range of mental health conditions.

Acceptance Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on developing psychological flexibility. It encourages individuals to accept their thoughts and feelings while taking committed action towards their values and goals. ACT emphasizes mindfulness, acceptance, and values.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

Prolonged Exposure (PE) is a top recommended treatment for PTSD, helping individuals face their distressing memories and feared situations in a safe and controlled manner. By approaching traumatic memories and associated fears, individuals promote habituation and emotional processing.

Solution Focused Therapy

Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) is a brief therapy that focuses on finding solutions to problems rather than analyzing them. It's based on identifying and utilizing clients' strengths and resources to create a clear vision of a desired future. This type of therapy emphasizes practical, achievable steps towards goals.

Mindfulness Practices

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment, without judgment or distraction. It involves being fully present in the here and now, and observing one's thoughts, feelings, and surroundings with curiosity and openness.

Please note, this list is not exhaustive. Therapy is not a "one size fits all" and many may benefit from a tailored approach. This may require utilizing a variety of different modalities and therapeutic techniques to find a treatment plan that feels right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your services covered by insurance? Although most insurance providers cover psychotherapy, it is important to verify your coverage before starting sessions. I do not currently offer direct billing, and clients are responsible for submitting their own claims for reimbursement.

Do you have a cancellation policy? I kindly ask that you provide a minimum of 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. The first late cancellation or reschedule is free, but after that, the full session fee applies. This policy helps keep Blume Haven running smoothly and opens up availability for other clients who may be waiting for an appointment on the cancellation list.

How is payment accepted? I accept E-transfer as a form of payment for therapy sessions. Payment is required in advance of each session, and can be sent to info@blumehaven.ca.

How do I know if we're a good fit? This is a key question! You can tell if you have a good fit with your therapist if you feel that your therapist is empathetic, non-judgmental, and supportive. A strong therapeutic alliance and a sense of trust and rapport between you and the therapist is also an important indicator of a good fit!

How long does therapy take? Therapy length varies based on individual factors such as the severity of presenting concerns and client goals. Typically, clients attend 12-20 sessions over a 6 month to a year period. However, treatment duration is unique to each client.

What happens in a consultation? During a consultation, we will engage in an open discussion to explore your unique therapeutic needs and goals. I will also discuss potentially helpful therapy modalities to help you decide if it's a good fit.

Do you offer a sliding scale fee? Yes, my sliding scale fee ranges from $130-$150 and is dependent on your household income. All sliding scale spots are currently full. Please inquire about the waitlist.
